With the financial and technical support of Lutheran World Federation Nepal, Lutheran Community Welfare Society, Rangeli Morang has organized a formal program and handed over medical equipment to Koshi Hospital worth of Rs 42,74,000. Lutheran handed over health supplies to counter the risk of COVID-19, with the slogan “Commitment of all of us, solidarity for the prevention of COVID-19”.
To fight against Covid-19, Lutheran has provided Koshi Hospital with a ventilator, bi-pap machine, ICU beds, N-95 mask, surgical gloves, oximeter, sanitizer, face shield, and other medical supplies. The medical items were handed over to the Acting Superintendent of Koshi Hospital Laxminarayan Yadav by the Chief Guest MP and former Minister of Defense Minendra Rijal.
Speaking on the occasion, Rijal said that the humanitarian work being carried out by Lutheran in the marginalized communities was exemplary. Praising Lutheran’s humanitarian assistance in the past, Rijal thanked Lutheran for its support to the Koshi Hospital.
Laxmi Narayan Yadav, Acting Medical Superintendent of Koshi Hospital, expressed his gratitude to Lutheran for facilitating the treatment of the general public by providing essential items including a baby ventilator to the children in the current situation of the Covid-19 epidemic. He said that he was happy that the Lutheran- which has been working in the marginalized community in the rural areas, had provided health equipment with the objective of benefiting the locals as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the organization Joseph Soren said that they are very proud to be able to work in the community during the time of Covid and other disasters through the organization. He informed that health materials have already been distributed to the municipal level health institutions in coverage areas of the organization in Jhapa and Morang districts.
Chairman of the Jahada Rural Municipality Kailash Prasad Mandal said that Lutheran has been working as a companion of the people during emergencies. He also urged Lutheran to expand the programs to other communities and regions too. Representative of Lutheran World Federation Nepal Sapana Pradhan, representatives from local government, media persons, and leaders of the target community were present in the program.
